Engine Loss of Power

My 1998 XJ8 4.0, 113K miles has developed a fault that manifests itself as follows( bear with me on this):-
My usual drive is a 30 mile commute of country and town roads.The fault had never happened before( in the last 3 months)
On a long motorway( 350 miles) journey after 250 of them the car lost throttle response but the engine kept running at tickover. Coasted to a halt, turned everything off, restarted, all back to normal.This happened three more times.Over the next two weeks of running around it happened three more times but at speeds from 25 to 70 mph.On the return motorway journey 4 more episodes of loosing power but the engine carrying on ticking over.
No engine fault codes displayed( but see my other post re fault codes and suspension)
Returned 27mpg on the run and 23mpg otherwise.The car runs really well.

its just a wild suggestion but you never know,if you think it is some sort of elecrical fault always try taking the battery lead off and putting it back on again...............or even have the battery drop tested for a dead cell..Joe

I'm having the same problem with mine. Brake Buster gave me a possible solution, which I'm investigating. I'll let you know. See the thread I started "Warning lights & message".
