Hi guys.
Well, my membership pack arrived today, so what more than to say hello straight away.
I've had my XKR convertible now for almost three weeks.
It's a 2002 model, in pheonix red, black leather, sat nav, and has just this minute ticked over 17,900 miles.
I'm over the moon with it, however, it's my first Jaguar, so don't be surprised if I'm posting questions all of the time!!!
A bit about me.......I'm 25 year old electrician, from Stoke-on-Trent in Staffs, and I'd guess I'm a bit of a petrolhead. My previous car was a Mitsubishi Evolution 8, which I enjoyed two years of motoring with. However, the Jaguar is a super car and to compare the two would be silly, as they're like chalk and cheese.
Anyway, enough of me. Thanks for looking, and hopefully see you all at some meetings very soon!
Cheers,
Chris

Welcome to the Club and Forum Chris.
You made a great choice in chosing this model Jaguar and I am sure you will be smiling for a very long time, like most of us.
The coming weekend (Sunday) would be your perfect first visit to a Club Rally at Newby Hall, Yorkshire, which is the major annual event of the JEC (it is actually split into two areas, the 'Northern Meet' in July and the 'Southern Meet' in August - I believe).
You will probably see over 2000 Jaguars assembled there and the XK8 Club Forum will have there own representatives there. Usually a really great day out and the weather looks to be just right as well.
If you are interested and need more info, let me know by pm or the forum, possibly with a tel no.
I will have another look on the forum tomorrow to see if I have a reply, but will then be out in the evening and at Newby Hall on Sunday.
Either way, enjoy your new toy.
All the best,
Karl

Don`t worry about not knowing anyone. You soon will!
Come an meet the Forum Co-ordinators. They are quite a good bunch of guys. Just keep your hand on your wallet!
There is plenty to see at Newby for both Jaguar enthusiasts and also their family and friends.
09.00 onwards would be about right for your arrival.

Good decision Chris.
The grounds at Newby Hall are open from 9:30am.
I guess most of us will have have booked ahead and will have received an orange Pre-Paid Entry pass for the car together with the personal tickets.
Since you won't have these I would suggest you tell the entrance marshall that you have only recently joined the club (bring your Club Membership Card) and they should issue you with a pass or tell you any other arrangements to get you in.
By the way, the info I received says, Newby Hall is 2 miles off the A1(M) at Ripon exit (signposted) and look for the JEC Club signs as you get close, as they may use a specific entry to cope with the mass of cars arriving. It is usually very well organised.
Once in and parked up, look for the XK8 Forum stand and you should find Mike Horlor, the XK8 forum Organiser there. You will get a warm welcome, I am sure. They are a great bunch of people and all nuts about Jaguars.
Nik from this forum will have his car on display - he is a frequent contributor to this forum bulletin board. I will also spend some time around the XK8 stand. Just make yourself known and you will get to meet quite a few of us XK8/R owners.
I will aim to get there around 9:30ish, but you could turn up anytime really.
Look forward to meeting you and have an enjoyable and save trip up.
