There was a XKR on sale near to me and to try and justify the extortionate price they advertised it as being "Driven by Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear"!
Cant think of anything that would put me off buying a car more than that!
Just the thought of the man who has done more to undermine the British car industry than "Red Robbo" (The mature members will remember),sitting in a car ,I might buy!!, Well..................!!
I,d rather insert needles in to my retina!

A standard XK8 is amazingly better than a 6 cylinder DB7. A few years ago, I was lucky enough to participate in a back to back test with Andrew Frankel (the journalist) for one of the motoring mags. The Aston was stiffer than the XK8 and initially felt more sporting until you pushed it into a bend when the Aston understeered heavily compared with the XK8. Considering the poor interior finish of the Aston, it was always difficult to understand the price differentials, both new and second hand. You pay heavily for the badge and lower production numbers (increased scarcity). As for Red Robbo, whilst a student I worked temporarily at Morris Motors Oxford when he was around. It was certainly not an impressive time for the UK motor industry and I pity any Morris enthusiasts today trying to look after those vehicles 40 years later. Many needed rebuilding as soon as they came through the factory gate!
