Can anyone tell me how to replace the complete unit in a simple way
Hi jimswish ,
You will need to simply remove the centre console and the lighter/ashtray electrics are then unplugged and the ashtray assembly can be then be unscrewed from the underside , assembly is reverse operation , just make sure that the carpet on the transmission tunnel is fed into their guides as you lower the console back on ,

Hi Jim ,
Firstly remove the "J" gate surround and unplug the sport switch and cruise switch if applicable, unscrew the four phillips screws and stainless brackets underneath , carefully lift off the gear surround veneer and remove the two torx screws that secure the front of the console , pull off the small cushion at the very rear of the console and remove the two torx screws beneath , lift the rear of the console up and disconnect the wiring to the cigar lighter , the console can then be slid gently back and up out of the car ,

PS be careful removing the Jgate surround as the fixing tangs X4 are fragile , I use an old credit card or similar cut into four strips
