Hi Steve & All,

Just joined after many years as a member of the XKEC,
However, After many years as a member and at one time Regional Organizer, with over 1000+ post on the forum.......

I'm am NO Longer a member of the XKEC club, or should I say (MARK's Club) !!!!!!!

This is because after the Growler Diner/Dance, Pamela & I (In the privately of our hotel room !!!!) were discussing the days events, and OUR conversation got around to club funds and what happens with them ???

As has been raised on the XKEC forum in the past, Before mark would lock said post !!
Also I believeon this JEC forum too !!!

Unbeknown to us, Mark and Karen had swapped rooms and was now in the one next to ours
With their Ears against the Wall
This lead to them having a wobbly and kicking me out the next day,

So this is why we were not at Silverstone on the Sunday...

I think ( No KNOW) we touched a nerve with Mark and Karen

I wonder WHY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to making new friends and meeting you all

Hi Del Boy,

I like the pic. The car's spec doesn't sound too bad either. Welcome to the Forum. Hope you enjoy it. If you're coming to Thoresby Hall, don't hesitate to call in to the Forum area and introduce yourself. I should recognise you from your pic! Mike.

Derek, I am sure you will be sorely missed by many of the friends you made - but hey - quite a few of them are also members of the JEC.
If you make it to the JEC 25th Club Anniversary at Thoresby Hall (in your native Yorkshire :? ) keep an eye out for me - my Titanium Silver 2.5l X-type will be on the Jaguar History Display on Sunday, 7 June. I'll also be manning the XK8-forum stand for a while (while Mike is doing his essential rounds of the watering holes
Best of luck, DelBoy  (BTW Cheshire Cat is also a recent member here).

I had a similar experience to Del with the XKEC when I joined in 2005.

Most of my posts were hijacked on their forum in what I can only describe as an attempt by others to exercise their own particular brand of humour.
The forum used to work on the ranking basis (i.e. the more posts you made whether relevant or not increased your 'ranking') so maybe a contributary factor in the number of posts?

When I asked mildly technical questions (like fluid/coolant capacity or exhaust flow rates) I was advised to post such questions on the American roadfly forums which put more empasis on technical (I was coincidentally already a member there).

I would have let that all slide but the final straw came when I posted the sale of 6 instrument rings in their 'classified' section that was also hijacked by someone else selling a set of 3 rings. When I reposted politely asking the person to adopt some form of internet etiquette and submit their own classified I was barred from the forum due to the hijacker being of longer standing /higher ranking than myself. Apparently this decision was taken by Mark who refused to reinstate me (I did ask).

Since this incident I've successfully dissuaded at least 5 other XK owners from joining 'Mark's Club' just by sharing this experience. Similarly I've managed to tell them what a great club the JEC and at least three joined up :D

I did realise and it's nice to know that two such genuinely nice people are no longer in the XKEC. :P

Well I am a member of both the JEC & the XK8/XKR Clubs but by the worst club I ever joined was the JDC. A director of that Club completed some very expensive but poor work on my E-Type & when I complained I was threatened with a libel suit by another JDC Board Director. This was some years ago but I am pleased to hear that the JDC has now considerable problems in terms of declining membership.

I'm amazed that clubs like that actually still exist...but am sure they won't have a long history :)

I was a member of the MX-5 owners club and went to an event at Beaulieu in 2002 I think, my 91 car was pretty unique in that it was an imported automatic with custom leather interior, one off green mohair hood with rear glass, a supercharger running at 16psi with methanol injection (with modified transmission and torque convertor) low-pro lights and LOTS of chrome. Oh, and a bull bar!

I had promised the wife we wouldn't do any car stuff just have a look around the monestary and funfare, but I left the hood doors and bonnet open if anyone wanted to look.

When I returned there was a crowd of people taking pictures of the car. Club president came over to tell me that my car had come in 3rd overall as best of show. I told him I didn't even now there was a competition (my 1st car show) but was intrigued to see what won. So accompanied by around 20 others we went to have a look.

The club Chairman explained as we walked that they had chosen the winner as his car was stock and used daily (strange that they didn't ask anyone else how they used theirs?).

Anyway we got to the winner and the first thing we noticed was that the bonnet was missaligned (I could get my little finger in the gap). I asked him if the chrome grill or the face of stereo was stock. I then commented that the interior was a mess. The Chairman quickly explained that the personal effects....umbrella's, macs, paperwork was all his and his wife's (also on the committee as membership secretary).

Hmmmm I thought they know this driver rather well to be leaving their stuff in his car?

As I left I took a picture of the car (we had to drive past it) and was later advised that it was owned by the clubs marketing guru (also a committee member). Strange I didn't think that other committee members were able to take part in competitions where committee members were the judges. Never attended another club event again :(

But it is a life experience!!
