I'm new too

Postby slaphead » Tue Mar 17, 2009 9:42 pm

I purchased a x reg 2001 model xk8 convertible in platinum silver, black roof and Oatmeal interior back in December last year and despite a few minor problems I am delighted with it. The car was purchased from a Stratstone showroom and fortunatley had a Jaguar 12 month warranty as part of the purchase. It came shod with 18" Hydra alloys.
The xk is a fine day and weekend car as my everyday motor is a 2007 XJ6 350 in which I do about 30,000 miles per annum in and upto now has proved a great work horse and looks great in Midnight black.
My first experience of Jaguar was a Y reg X Type which was one of the first models off the production line and was a fantastic looking 2.5 model with dark tinted windows and Dove Grey leather interior. That particular car should have put me off Jags for life, it was plagued with problems which Jaguar said was down to teething problems often found with a new model.
Anyway I just love Jags and after trying all the German marques, I have returned to the one of the best brands in the world and love my XK8.
The first time I drove the car on a sunny December day, I had the roof down and got a few looks of disbelief from pedestrians who were freezing in the 3 degree temperatures but I was pleased to see a Morgan driver and a Merc SL driver who also had their rag tops down and exchanged friendly waves to a fellow mad man.
On that first venture out, the coolant warning light came on but after inspection, the level was normal. A visit to the dealer resulted in the resevoir coolant chamber being replaced.
I am looking forward to going on the club days and the odd run out this year hopefully with the roof down.

Hi Tooney,
Great colour convertible (same as mine!). I'll look forward to meeting you at one of our events. In the meanwhile, keep enjoying that open top motoring. as long as you have a decent heater there's nothing to beat it. :D Mike.

Should have waited until Friday afternoon like I did, the weathers great in Glossop, perfect ,well almost) and I didn't have to wash it afterwards. Dave.

Don't know where you went on Wednesday John but I drove to Hull and it was perfectly dry. Definitely no need to clean the car when I got back! Mike.

You're right. I can't afford to use brakes. These Brembo discs and pads cost far too much to replace! Mike. :D
