Daft Main-Beam Bulb

Chaps - need your wisdom again...

My XK has the main beam bulbs with the silly elbow fitting on them, and a scour of my local car spares shops indicates that whilst there are many options to upgrade the main beam bulbs on the market nowadays, the bulbs have standard 'H1' / 'H4' type fittings.

When you get into different fittings, those options disappear.

Is anyone aware of any options available for these , such as adapter conversions to allow use of 'normal' H1 bulbs ?

Due to the lack of replies, it would seem that I need to continue to do my own ferreting...

However, help seems to be at hand courtesy of this month's JEC magazine & XKZahran (www.xkz.uk.com) who offers Xenon bulb kits including the stupid elbowed main-beam bulb.

XKZ offer Xenon bulb kits- 100w or 60w, blue-white or brilliant white

Hi Malc ,
Sorry no one has replied to your post , however you are correct there is several options to upgrade your headlamps , you can swap them for Xenon lights as fitted to the later cars but should also fitted the self levelling option as well as headlamp washers if you do not already have them .
The 60W kit would be ok but I think the 100W lamps aren't road legal strictly speaking ,

I would also be wary re the wiring, as with 100w, the relay and wiring would have to carry a lot more current than they were spec'ed for.
