XKR Drivers Door panel removal

Postby ronnienewton » Wed Dec 24, 2008 1:59 pm

Can anyone offer advice on how to remove the drivers door panel on an XKR? I have an issue with the window that cannot be sorted by resetting it using the usual method and I would like to remove the panel to investigate the problem further.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Remove the screw under the cover in the handle escutcheon plus the escutcheon itself. Remove the screw under the mat at the rear of the door pocket. Release plastic stud holding trim to front of pocket. Remove screw revealed which holds switch pack. Move switch pack to get at and remove screw underneath. There should be 8 plastic studs holding the casing to the door; remove the casing carefully releasing multiplugs as necessary. Mike.

Thanks Mike.

Looking at this more closely over the weekend, there is a thin piece of plastic that can be seen by looking down the door trim adjacent to the internal door handle and auto seat controls. I am now wondering if an attempt has been made to steal the car. It was left in an allegedly secure car park in Birmingham before Christmas and it was the next day that the problem started. I can’t remove the plastic by pulling it although it moves freely. At the same time as the door window lift failed so did the chimes that remind you that you have left the lights on. I am not sure if the two would be connected but maybe the problem could stem from something being dislodged by the piece of plastic being pushed down into the door.

There is no damaged to the car bodywork thankfully.

Again, thanks for your help and happy New Year.

Ronnie
