Coolant venting

Postby rogerpalin » Thu Aug 28, 2008 8:52 am

I have just had to remove the coolant header tank on my 96 XK8 to get at a faulty HEGO sensor, so have had to top up the cooling system afterwards. I seem to recall seeing mention of two vents somwhere on top of the heads that are used to release trapped air, but can't find mention of it in the manuals, and can't see anything obvious. Can anyone shed any light?

Thanks

Roger, You may be thinking of the breather cap on top of the thermostst housing at the front of the engine. It should be removed when filling the expansion tank. Mike.

Thanks Mike, I think you are right about the thermostat housing, seems to work OK - even the heater has started to blow warm air! Roger
