hi folks!,
i know the forum has been very subdued for a while,but i imagine a lot of peaple have been working on there cars inreadiness for the upcoming events,(i know i have!!),.
i can only speak for myself,i have found the forum to be of great help to me and my 82 double six!,with al and simon being of particular help,ilook forward to meeting some of you at thoresbythis coming weekend!.

hi ipburrell1962. no the forum isn't dead it just needs people such as yourself to keep logging on and following threads. I have been trying to start new threads and hopefully this will encourage others to do the same. even if it is just to talk about jags as well as passing on help and tech.cheers Nick.

hi to you both. Hope we will get to thoresby next weekend. Do you still need xj rear window ian? or anything else of course. Not even touched my poor daimler yet as it is the season for fixing familly cars! I just spent the day going to poole and back to buy a mondeo for my dad! I know but he lives in cornwall and at 6ft 4 says my series 3 is too cramped and hard to get in to being low. The ferry near him which he uses regularly makes a right mess of the front valance and tail pipes so perhaps a mondeo is more suitable!

hi arden you have my sympathy. I spent last weekend gardening/ taming the wilderness! At this rate jag may get quick wash saturday night but as long as we get there who cares?! I think shows for me are more about the people and In recent times I have been going to other classic shows as The reception at a lot of one make clubs has been mediocre at best. I think I may be too young for most classic owners?The p5 rover lot are def the worst.sure you guys will be much more fun

Hi guys , i was going to write a bit about a new acquisition of mine but i couldn't figure out where to put general gossip , i think i know where but no ones been there for a while so i decided to say hello here

I can't see any mention of people who are going to Thoresby on here but i should be there in no1 Daimler which will be on the xj forum stand with Rob Jenner so see you there

I've stuck a couple of pictures in the general gallery tonight of 'Ruby' , i've only had her a week so were still getting to know each other

I had the same trouble myself , someone said they had a picture in the gallery and i couldn't find it for ages , there's two gallerys

One is 'members cars' gallery and the other is 'general' gallery , 'Ruby' is in the general but my other car is in the members

Why so you ask , well i was just chucking a couple of pictures that i had handy for the insurance to go with the post to illustrate what i was talking about , in the members cars gallery i would take a more care in composing a shot that would stay there , to show the old girl at her best

I've also got a feeling that more people would look in the general

I'll try to amend my entries in members cars tomorow

Update i'm talking rubbish here i'm getting confused as well i've just been having a look round and they are all in the xj gallery

I think a lot of the trouble , well for me a least is swopping from the members bb to the xj bb , anyhow they are all there just click on gallery and register at the top of the page and you will see xj gallery and xj register , have fun

I'll be honest I don't really like the more modern colour scemes i.e the cream/tan dash top rolls etc..I much prefer the black trim.

I looked at loads of red 40's and at the kind of budget i had almost all the interiors were well worn , especially the usual drivers seat bolster then this one came along, well having grown up driving 70's Cortinas black doesn't bother me .

She's turning out to be a quite unusual car in as much as she was originally an export car and spent the first 8 or 9 years in Hong Kong before being brought back to blighty , i can only assume that the climate there has contributed to the fact that there's no rust

I've been all over it and under it and there just isn't any , really feels kind of weird i've never come across a forty without rust

When i get the v5 from the dvla i'm going to make a request for the previous owners and see if i can find out who brought it back to the UK , might be somebody important

just your standard four litre , albeit in '' hot climate '' spec presumably that's just the oil cooler instead of the normal bypass

She's got some lovely Chinese service stamps in the book
