I am now able to join a select bulletin board as I changed my XJ8 for a XK8 3 weeks ago. The car is a 4.2 coupe 04 model year, and surprisingly it is quieter & a better ride than the XJ.
However it has the oil pressure/voltmeter gauges instead of the sat-nav and I am increasingly wondering if there is anything at the back of them.
The oil pressure unit simply doesn't change, registering no difference between idling & running, which is patently not the case.
This is presumably so that the punters don't get the wind up, and think their motor is going to fall out; but is mightly annoying all the same.
Anyone else annoyed by this, or is it me?

Hi,
Yes, nice and decorative but of no practical use. I have been impressed how much more comfortable and quiet the XK is compared with the XJ8 I had previously. I really was expecting it would have been the other way about. The saloon had a lot more tyre noise, and as it had the 3.2 engine it had to work a bit harder. Before I decided to sell it I was going to throw out the Pirelli tyres (P6000) and get some Bridgestones which are fitted to all US market XJs and supposed to be much quieter. Is there a similar tyre difference with the XK?
