Windscreen Wipers - mind of their own

Postby howardryan » Mon May 08, 2006 8:01 pm

Can anyone help. My wipers wipe 12 to 15 times then stop irrespecive of the control stick position. Switch them off then back on again and get another 12 to 15 wipes and so on..Iv'e looked in the workshop manual but that talks about the Body Processor and the use of a PDU, which I don't have.
any ideas welcome.
Thanks
Howard

Hi Howard, welcome to the forum :D
I have not come across your problem before but hope other members are able to help. Of course, you can always contact our Technical Advisor of the XK8/R forum, David Marks, who has a huge experience in matters XK8 and others.
Hope you get sorted soon.

Hi , I had exactly this problem , it turned out to be the wiper motor, very surprised at how inexpensive a new wiper motor was fitted by the jaguar centre Hull (a genuine jag motor is well under £90 )

best wishes Nik

I had the same problem and have replaced the microswitch in the motor. So far it seems to be working. The switch is 99p plus postage from farnellinone dot com XCF3 S1Z1 order code 777-1720.
Time will tell if the one I've put in is up to the job. I've posted details on replacing it in the X300 section of jaglovers.

Thanks for the help

I’ll get a second quote for the wiper motor, £90 is a lot better than £400.00 (that was Rybrook’s of Chester).
The micro switch option sounds even better, John mentioned he’s posted details about replacing the micro switch in the X300 section of jaglovers, where do I find X300 jaglovers?
Sorry I’m new to the forum

jag-lovers.org

It's about 2 years now since I replaced the microswitch and no problems so far.
