Wheel Nut Torque

I have always set my wheelnut torque to 60 nm and im told it could be wrong........anyone know the real setting for the wheelnut torque?

Yep
88-102nm (nominal 95nm) for my Celtic Alloys
Should be the same for any other Alloy I would think.

Spot on there Dave, but i have just bought a new torque wrench and the Nm measurement is not on it .......any other measurements LBS ect

1n/m = 0.738 ft/lb
so 95n/m = 70.11 ft/lb
Will that do ?

i set my torque at 85lbs off the cuff anyway..........

'FT' doesnt mean ' Ham-fisted '

but i do agree, dont over tighten alloy wheels, and also ensure you have the correct wheel nuts for your particular wheels, as the ones for steel wheels will chew up alloys and make them unusable due to the damage caused

if in doubt, do it by the book

another safety feature i follow is to put the caps ( for the nuts or the actual wheel ) in the boot while doing the work, the action of having to get the cover after she is dropped to the ground reminds me to ' check ' the tightness of everything with the bar before fitting the covers ,

well, it works for me anyway , lol

If you had seen me with the wheels, putting them back on, you would have had a right old giggle.
Guess who didnt realise they are offset on the studs, and got rather irate to say the least.......even for a younger man they are quite heavy wheels........... Joe
