I opened up the plenum under the wipers on my 4 litre facelift 1994 and found these two cable with connectors on the end but unplugged. Anyone have any idea what that circuit is for ?

That looks like one end of an in-line fuse.
What colour is the cable? It's not clear from the picture. Cable colours are a BSI standard, so provided it's manufacturer-installed, you can work out what circuit from the colour. For example, blue cables (with various stripes) are lighting. Solid black cables are earth.

One side of the connector has a black and red colour. The other side looks black and black.

I attach a better photo.

Thanks

Possibly the feed for an after market alarm system, now disabled?

So not standard ? Interestingly you can see its got a Jaguar label on it which is why I thought it might have been standard build.

If it's original Jaguar wiring then I wonder if it could be for heated washer jets which I believe the S had in some markets?

According to a web site, red is for "Side, tail and instrument lighting; number plate illumination". There'd normally be a second colour to identify which - otherwise solid red tends to mean "old style red&black power cable" and nothing particularly automotive, so probably aftermarket or home-made. That means you probably will be reduced to trying to work out where it goes....

I used to have a couple of spreadsheets listing all the BS 7(a) standard colour codes by colour or function; if I can find them, I'll upload them.
