so , onto the point in hand,
it was never clear what manufacturer provided sunroofs to Jaguar at this time, and for the XJS ,
well ,
while dismantling the car for her repaint starting Monday next week , i found one, just the one brand name on my sunroof kit , this was stamped into a metal trim for the aperture holding the roof lining material , at the front , it says
Webasto.....
as none of the spares are available from Jaguar , even though the whole kit is listed in the parts manual , i will now be able to source spare parts if required , such as runner buffers etc, but at the moment , and being really lucky , its fully working with no broken parts at all
i do need to recover the inner sliding shade , but that is an easy job
btw , its a fully electric , smoked GLASS tilt and sliding sunroof with inner sunshade and polished stainless aperture trim on the roof, and from looking at the webasto site, its a fully loaded version for that year..
with regard to redoing the roof lining , the standard biscuit replacement will not fit in my car because of the sunroof cassette and the front electric motor , this is housed in a bespoke metal frame that the courtesy light also sits in , so its a glue in loose material roof lining , which will be done while the glass is still out ,
