Selector leak

Hi if anyone could advice. I have a xj6 series1 with a borg Warner box
I've always had a small leak from the passenger side of the box, I'm sure it's the gear selector shaft. My question is.will the box have to be removed to replace the small seal. Or am I better keep wiping the small drop of oil of the exhaust which creates alot of smoke after a week as the box works perfectly fine. Many thanks tony

Hi Tony, I have exactly the same issue with mine. I do recall changing the seal in situ years ago but the leak soon returned. As it isn't an issue for normal usage I have opted to leave mine alone. I would be interested to hear what others have done or not done.

Thanks for reply. I think il be leaving it as its not causing a problem outer that a quick wipe before I start. Cheers
