Brooklands Historic Auction March 2015

Postby ptjs1 » Mon Mar 09, 2015 3:42 pm

I went along to the Brooklands Auction on Saturday as a nice day out and just to see how the Classic Market is really doing. Suffice to say, it's a bit variable. E-Types are still making reasonable money for clean cars, Early Porsche 911 & 356 didn't perform as strongly as expected with the cars in the £80k+ estimate not selling.

A couple of interesting XJSs sold. The 1994 AJ16 convertible with 118k miles and looking very well presented made only £8200 inc premium. I thought that was a real steal. The well-known Ex-Hyper Prototype Manual Coupe with 6.0 litre engine and steel body made £20k inc premium. For a car with such provenance, I thought that was a reasonable buy.

My favourite? The non-airworthy 1971 Agusta Bell 204b helicopter (think US in Vietnam) which went for £15k. Now that would have the neighbours staring (especially as it would be hanging over their driveway!).

Paul, It might need the Jag V12!!!

Some good results there...for prospective buyers!

Few more coming up too. Time to keep eyes on!

Nice-looking car, but AJ6 rather than AJ16. Suspect mileage will be high as it is not mentioned + 18 service stamps.
