3.6 Downpipe

I have a 1987 3.6 manual. The bottom of the downpipe has a hole in it. I have contacted Jaguar and they want nearlty £200 for a replacement pipe. Does anyone know of any suppliers of downpipes at cheaper prices? I have looked on the internet but can only find suppliers of downpipes for V12's

Given Jaguar prices I dont think less than £200 is OTT - does that inc. VAT? This is a stainless steel item and not a straightforward design either. It cost me £100 to get mine repaired three years ago by Bells Silencers of Swindon so your quote for a genuine Jag part does't sound too bad.....you could try Bells for a quote but I think you may end up biting the bullet
NB Did you ask for JEC discount ? You should get about 10-15%
Whatever you do get the aluminium O Rings replaced with new items, they wear and blow.

Thanks for this advice. I have on order at the moment a stainless system from the bottom of the downpipe back. I was advised for best results to retain the front downpipe which I was told is mild steel. Now that you have said that this component is stainless steel I understand why the price is around the £200 mark and seems reasonable. I didnt ask for a JEC discount so I might get a bit more knocked off.

This is the first time I have used the forum and now on it I will no doubt be posting more queries in the future

Just off at a slight tangent, I've been having real problems getting my S/S Falcon downpipe to seal properly. It doesnt seem to be the right shape to squash the sealing rings, seems there's too much gap and they just end up floating about between the mating surfaces. I'm going to complain to Falcon about this shortly, specially since I've now bust one of the flanges somehow.

I seem to remember I paid around £100 for it, although due to the problems I can't recommend one at present.

Jon, Did you get the problem resolved? The downpipes on mine are loking like they will need replacement soon, and I was considering the Falcon ones.

The (original) pipes seem to be constructed of a 2-part sandwich, the outer has peeled away in places on mine.

I'm now also looking at the AJ6 TT pipes which additionally eliminate the centre boxes. Might sound better and increase performance but more in the $pendy department. All stainless steel so it will outlast me but I'm a bit concerned that if I find it too raucaus I'm back to square one with no pocket money left
Does anyone out there already have a TT system fitted (apart from Roger that is!)
