Hi, i have just fitted new A post seals to my 69 2+2 and i am have a mare trying to get the doors to align, does anyone know the correct procedure for re-fitting the doors other than just trial and error ?
I left the hinges attached to the body and removed the hinge from the door itself. There are four bolts and two screws holding the door on, should the screws be fitted first then the bolts or visa versa.
The doors seem to be hitting the striker plates, i have tried to adjust these but the doors are still hitting the plates.
help would be appreciated.

It really is mainly trial and error to get the best fit and shut, but if you are having problems,first make sure that the seals are actually fitted the right way round in the channel, especially the vertical ones at the rear edge of the door from sill up to roof line. These can easily be fitted the wrong way and willl hold the door off if wrong. As a matter of course do the same check for the over door seal and sill seal. There is a right way and wrong way for all of them. The SNG Barratt catalogue is a good guide to which way round they fit.
Its a good idea to set up your door gaps before fitting the seals, position the door striker vertically, and get the doors to close without interfering on the bodywork otherwise there's a greater risk of paint damage from misalignment with the rubbers in if you have to slam the door to shut it.The A post seal can be fitted easily with the door on if you stretch it whilst installing. Get one edge in first then use a hard plastic spatula or a suitable blunt tool to push the other lipped edge inch by inch into the channel. This is the way I did mine and I have had no issues. Once the seals are in, adjust the striker plate horizontally as the seals settle in.
