1995 Celebration possible gearbox problem

Postby mikeceleb » Sat Dec 01, 2012 5:26 pm

I haven't driven my Celabration for about a month, when I drove it yesterday the engine started to hunt and the revs increased, after about 5 miles it settled down but in drive pulling away it was hesitant not smooth. Any Ideas? I hope it doesn't mean a new box.

Hi,
I would be surprised if it was the gearbox causing this. Giving her a good run is a good start to remediate the problem, but other areas (not an exhaustive list!) you might want to consider include;
- Checking the air intake piping for any sign of leakage on sections behind the mass air flow sensor but before the intake manifold
- Coolant sensor
- Oxygen sensors (if it's a high mileage car that has never had them changed)
- Throttle position sensor
- Idle Air Control Valve

Thanks, Rich
