XF Front Parking Sensors

My newly acquired 2009 XF has front and rear parking sensors - but the front sensors only seem to work after reverse has been engaged; in other words if I drive forwards into a parking space I get no indications from the sensors no matter how slow I go, but if I first engage reverse and then switch back into D - they work?

Never had the same problem on my S Type - is this a quirk of the XF - or have I got a problemo that needs looking into ? Is there something in the set-up menu I need to sort? Anyone out there who knows?

Hi Ray,

yes that is correct, they will only activate by either engaging reverse or pressing the button near the light console up above ( i think), otherwise they would activate every time you are stationary in a queue.

I have another of those silly issues. This one is with the rear door locking function. I have read the manual and established the procedure for operating/disengaging the child-safety feature on the two rear doors. BUT, still my rear seat passengers cannot get out of their doors using the interior levers/handles. In all other respects the rear doors lock and undo using the key fob or the outside door handles, but not the internal ones. I am stumped. Any ideas/similar experiences.

I think, but maybe wrong, that the rear doors will only release when the drivers door is opened......
