gear surround illumination + key fob not working sometimes

hi all
my gear selector is no longer lighting up green, when i switch the lights on.the only illumination i have is red in colour and that just indicates to me what gear i am in.are these bulbs easy to get to so i can replace them?
my other problem is that sometimes when i use the remote to unlock the car it doesnt work. this occurs every now and then. i might try changing the battery in the remote fob? unless anyone has any ideas what this could be.

I will have to double check this - and I am sure sure Rob Jenner will correct me here, but the J gate outer cover 'pops' off - and the J gate surround can be unscrewed to change the bulbs.
The remotes can be tempermental. It is often a wearing remote at fault. Try replacing the bulbs, but ultimately - I think the remote may need changing.

The J-gate cover does "pop" off but be careful as the plastic retainer tangs can break.
