Not necessary Tony, it's thirsty work presenting yourself to your adoring public as being "the most beautiful car in the world" [Enzo Ferrari March 1961] - like most of us on occasions, all we need is a breather & another nice cold drink to get us on our way again !

I think a lot of the problems with traffic could have been averted if the local council/police/highways agency/SS management had indicated on the M40/M1 that a major event was being held at SS then the individuals who weren't attending or local to the event could have altered their route. I was stuck East bound with 4 trucks for 2+ hrs after leaving the M40 on the Saturday.

If there is an event at, say, Twickenham, this is advertised on boards on the M3 and A316 which gives the general public the option of taking an alternative route.

This lack of forethought ruined a lot of peoples day out.
