Can any body help me please, :?:

What is the largest size wheel I can fit to my 2005 S Type SE without altering the body work.
At present I have 17" Juno's fitted.

Thank you :D

Hello John,

The last `R` models were fitted with 20" rims.
19" is more common but early `R` models frequently had 18" as standard.

My 02 4 litre is fitted with ex X350XJ rims. These are 19x 9.5J although as far as I know 8.5J is a more common size fitted to S-types. Even with lowered Adamesh suspension, I have no fouling or other clearance problems.
Max offset (ET) is 50mm and the ex 350 rims are of 49mmET - so they fit ok.

I run 245/35/19 tyres which ride well with very little road noise. So Adamesh harder lowered springs and standard soft "comfort" dampers make my set up. This tyre size is different to the tyres normally fitted to the 350 which has a rolling tyre circumference that is approximately 4.25" longer than a standard S-type rolling length. Any 350 tyres fitted to 350 rims will therefore have to be changed to sizes as given above.

The larger rims and lower profile tyres are a huge improvement on my old 16" rims on 225/55/16 Pirellies.

Picures of my car with the 19" set up can be found on the gallery section of this BB. Also in the July 09 JEC magazine under the S-type Forum pages. If you do not have that magazine to hand, e-mail me at eagmarine@hotmail.co.uk and I`ll send you a pdf of the article.

The offer of previously published S-type Forum articles is also open to other JEC members, particularly new members who may not have access to previous Club magazines.

Hope this helps, John.

Any further queries, please give me a shout.
