Another light conundrum

Postby Evna » Thu Mar 12, 2009 11:49 pm

Hi,

Another problem with lights...
My Double Six Series III it started with a main beam lamp (o/s outboard) not working when the hi beam was switched on... then when the headlamp itself failed and the inboard one also failed a week later I decided to change the bulbs, I find it so awkward having to remove the bezels etc not so much taking them off but getting the screws back in when putting them back on...

Having removed the bulbs on checking them they looked fine but I installed the new bulbs and now there are no lights on the o/s at all not even side light... have now tried several different new bulbs with same result can anyone give me an idiots guide on what to check and what might be the problem...

Thanks in advance

The fuse box for the lights is on the inner left wing (facing forward.) Check and clean the fuses and tighten the connectors, then move on to checking the earth wire that runs from a multiple bullet connector down on to the post beside the radiator. The bullets there corrode like mad and the other end of the lead where it attaches to the post is also pretty vulnerable.

Many thanks for the response... mixture of problems encountered from a fuse which looked fine but was infact faulty, dry/poor connections and a bad earth... all chased through and now have a fully working set of lamps.

Thanks for the pointers :)

Great result.

Glad you got it sorted!
