XJR Newbie got me thinking - what follows the X308 XJR?

Just out of interest, chaps, how much is that 33k car worth then?

According to the valuations page http://www.jec-x308-forum.org.uk/x308bb2/valuations.php my S reg XJR is worth £4000. It's done 113k and is in Condition 1 i.e. requires no major work to be ready for regular use.

In similar vein, the car in question is apparently worth £7,400. Despite the rust which all of us here would want to sort immediately, and likewise the tensioners and water pump, my guess is it still fits the Condition 1 definition. I guess that puts bmc123's 6-9k on the money.

I'm interested because this has got me thinking long and hard about when I do eventually replace my car: will I go for another X308 XJR? Or another Jag at all (don't like the later XJ)? And if an X308 XJR then would I focus on mileage or age?

I'd welcome your thoughts.

Most mechanical/electrical bits fade with miles not age, so I need to work out whether I'd go for something like this one and sort out the bodywork or something regularly used well-maintained but with say 50-70k and expect to fork out more for wear and tear on the mechanical and electrical bits.

BF.....the condition of any car is finally decided on the descression of the buyer, you can get cars you fall in love with at first sight,or you can see a "dog" and think "not for me thanks".........the main common denominator is you cant tell only by using it which car has got the most wear and tear allocated to it...........the old saying of "yer pays yer money yer takes the chance", this is the only way to buy a car like this. No ammount of information can make that final descision for you.
If in any doubt while the cash is still in your pocket keep it there and look elsewhere. When money goes out of your pocket you have to stick with it.
I wouldnt even contemplate pricing a car like that ......Joe

Well it's no longer for sale at HA Fox Nottingham, so either they took it off their forecourt and despatched to auction or similar, or someone bought it. Maybe they'll join the JEC and this forum soon!

BF looks like someone took a gamble .....some do pay off big time its taking that final descision thats the problem........Joe
