LHD import to UK

Just wondered if anyone has any experience on this.

I have everything in hand to get it here, BUT, I also know that I need to do some mods before I can get a test and subsequent then register the car. I am "au fait" with the registration process so no wories there, its more about what mods I need to do.

I am aware that the headlights need changing, and I have a set of them ready that should fit according to part nos that I can find. The ones I have were for my wifes spitfire as they were halogen conversions but she is not getting them now!.

Indictaors, side lights - looking at the wireing diagrams I cant see anything different on the side / indicators lights wiring, so can only assume that it is either just lenses or the whole light that is different - does anyone know or can anyone advise?

Does anyone know of anything else that needs to be changed in order to get a test.

This car was produced for LHD market so was never registered over here. At present it is my intention to keep as LHD until I come to do a full resto on it.

Mark,

Changing only the headlights would be all thats required to pass the MOT as long as everything else works etc. You can get an MOT using the chassis number and then you may have to present the car at your local DVLA so they can check the chassis numbers.
As you say you know about the registration process so nothing to bother you there.

Good luck

Hello Mark,

I imported a 1970 FHC a few years ago and in addition to the headlights, I had to change the rear lights complete not just the lenses to make them orange, cost quite a lot.

Regards,

John
