Dunno the answer to your question but a very good starting point would be to read David Marks' article on the subject on P56 of the February magazine. Far more to it than just plugging in, reading and fixing, apparently.

Remember that we have the diagnostics Seminar coming up on 3rd April 2010.

This would be the session to find out more about the subject. Tickets from Nigel Thorley.

SK Jaguar in Somerset market a range of diagnostic equipment for our cars. Regret I don`t have the link available but a quick Google will provide details and the link to their site.

As we are on diagnostics. Fault codes often cause people problems. Click the link here. You will be able to download a full Jaguar applicable codes listing for archiving or printing. Give it a try.

Please note: this date (3.April 2010) has been changed to 10 April 2010.

A very good supplier/Manufacturer is Gendan (I bought my AutoEnginuity Diagnostics system incl. Jaguar-specific DTC codes from them). You can find out a lot more from them by going onto their website: www.gendan.co.uk .

I understand a representative of that Company will also be at the Diagnostics Seminar on the 10 April.

Jagmk9,
your car is definitely OBDII compliant. As said above, the seminar might be a good entry into the mysteries of OBDII it is quite a big subject.
I would suggest you go on the gendan website, which holds quite a lot of general info on that subject and/or do a search on the Internet, just type OBDII and you should get lots of information.

Good luck.
