Replacement headlining

On my way to get a sudden and complete loss of air con refrigerant checked out, I got the headlining 'sagging round the ears' experience.

Having replaced a couple of these on Series XJs, I am no stranger to removing the degraded foam backed nylon material from the biscuit and gluing in a replacement, but while scouting the web for replacements I came across a video by a chap in the US (I think) who used a replacement biscuit and material from Myrtle products in Kent.

I wondered if anyone else has tried this apparently rather more robust replacement?

Myrtle's website is https://www.myrtleltd.com/product-page/ ... ning-board and the claims made for the fibreglass backed headliner sound quite convincing.

Any thoughts or experience would be gratefully received.

I've just bought one for my XJ SIII from Mertyl. I haven't fitted it yet as I am waiting for her to go to the body shop. Looks robust enough and they sent me loads of material to cover the support rail, I may even cover the c pillar trim with it as well.... Just am wondering though how to remove the grab handles..

When I finally manage to get a replacement Air Con compressor, I'll give Myrtle a go.

Sadly I no longer have either of my SIII Daimlers so can't put a picture of the grab handle removal, but IIRC the chrome plated bits slide up the handle (with a bit of persuasion) to reveal a self tapper holding the end in place. Fortunately I don't have them on the XJS!
