Some years ago, I needed to buy new rear tyres for my XK8. They had Avon on the front and rear so I thought I would replace them like for like. Unfortunately, I discovered that Avon no longer made 285/30/20 so I had to look for another brand.Having recently had a MOT, I had an advisory that the tyres were wearing on the inside and outside edges on the rear so I decided to change them. I purchased two Dunlop SP Maxx 255/35/20 ‘J’ which I was told were specific for Jaguars. A week later I had an incident which caused me to consider changing the front tyres too, so I went for Dunlop 255/30/20 ‘J’. However, my tyre dealer wasn’t able to get any and indicated Dunlop don’t make them anymore for Jaguars, so I had to go with Dunlop SP Maxx’s.
Has other members experienced these issue with other tyre manufacturers?
Why are these tyre manufacturers dropping these Jaguar tyres? Is it down solely on lack of demand?
