Onboard telematics in sleep mode

Postby rsharpe » Tue Jul 02, 2024 12:28 pm

My Jaguar Remote app is telling me that the car has gone to sleep and it won't wake up. I've driven the car a few times, but no joy. It went to sleep last Saturday 22 June and not worked since.

I read on a web forum that it has happened with XE and the cure was to pull the fuse for the telematics unit, and that worked. But another person reported a call from Jaguar suspecting attempted vehicle theft!

Have we seen this issue on F-Pace? This is a 2018 MY.

In the past I think this has also affected owners with other Jaguars, as they all have simmilar infortainment and remote control systems fitted. I have not heard from our members but other I-Pace owners have reported their cars not waking up from 'sleed mode'. Jaguar updating the security on their servers recently means that is important to have the latest software updates to the remote app and of course the car connectivity is important. One person reported having to park the car close to the house and logon to the home wifi, which I do with my car.

I don't know if there are any outstanding software updates for your F-Pace but this was also an issue for one owner after needing to reset the telematics module every few months.

It would be interesting to hear if any other members have had similar problems

Kind regards

I wonder whether the problem is the car or the phone app? Fairly recently, for my XE, I recall having a message telling me to reinstall the app afresh because the old version would no longer be working after a certain date. Mike.

Interesting Mike.
This is because JLR are strengthening their security protocols due to the unusual number of (mostly Land Rovers) that have been sucessfully stolen. The trouble is that it is causing owners/customers of electric/hybrid cars significant issues as they cannot access the most favourable charging rates due to non access to the car. OK this is good for security but other manufacturers have managed to combine the two to give customers that best of both worlds.

Kind regards
Paul

Thanks both for your support.
I’m glad to report the issue is resolved- what would we do without the Interweb?
I removed fuse 20 (telematics) in the boot for 15 minutes and thankfully it came back to life!

Other tricks of holding in the Jaguar Assist button to reset, or reinstalling the Remote app didn’t work for me.

Never a dull moment!
