I've been noticing a slight reluctance to engage 2nd and 4th and having had a look it seems that the entire lever assembly is moving fore and aft, due I think to worn bushes where the housing bolts to the pedestal at the front. Two part numbers are listed UKC854 and FRC7418J and the latter is available from Jaguar Classic Parts.
Has anyone done this job and can offer some guidance?
Regards, Chris.

3.6 manual gearshift lever assembly mountings
Hi,
this is Valter from Italy Rome,
I am experiencing a very similar problem. I found it difficult to shift 2 and 4th gear, it seems that the lever is almost touching something toward the driver and cannot go toward behind any more to let the gear go in...can you understand me?
I also noticed the lever assembly quite loosen expecially in neutral and 3rd gear.
Have you managed to do the job already?
Thanks, Valter
