Can anyone help please?
I have owned my 2008 XKR from new and the software has never been updated.
I naively bought a 2020 CD (Europe) thinking I could swap it for the original to update the satnav.
After insertion I got a screen message saying software update needed (and something about 15 minutes but can't exactly recall)- eject CD immediately. There was an option to continue which I selected but nothing happened. I removed the CD and replaced it with original. However, the Navigation selection on the screen just beeps when pressed and nothing further happens. All other screen selections like audio/climate etc function normally.
Is there anyway to either update the system or to get it back to its original state?

Re: 2008 XKR satnav update failure
This is one of the frustrations of modern cars. As far as I know, Jaguar only produced updated discs for this system (also used in the steel XF models) until about 2016. If anyone knows better, please correct me. Consequently, a disc purporting to be dated 2020 is likely either to be for a different sat nav system or just plain spurious. Either way, it's difficult to know what the problem is without the car being connected to Jaguar diagnostics so I'd suggest that's the way forward. Mike.

You could try a 'hard reset" as a way of at least getting the original to work, make sure you have any radio code beforehand though. The procedure for this is well documented elsewhere on the forum.

Re: 2008 XKR satnav update failure
The 2020 update disc should have a firmware update for your Nav system that must load before you can use the new system. By aborting the load by removing the DVD you have left the system unable to work. Re-insert the DVD and leave it to run. I think it could easily take 30 minutes to do the update during which you are supposed to leave the car fully charged and active. Try going for a drive where you dont need access to the Nav etc. Fingers crossed it should complete the load and start working.
