Guilty of one of the 7 sins,
PRIDE!
Just wanted to share these images with you !
Update, After the 3rd visit to Sigma Engineering in Dorset, we have finally got the straight six running sweet.
As you probably know any of the mid 70's cars had to deal with US emission regs, and the troublesome AED system, Peter at Sigma has been tuning Jaguars for decades and is a known expert on these, He really doesn't like these SU's and AED's Mine had the Burlen manual choke conversion on twin HIF7 SU carbs, These are fiddly to get right, and he ended up trying 4 to 5 different needle valves which he then honed to perfection with a file, a real artisan!
It was basically a trial and error job, so he would tweek it, I would try it and give him the results untill we got it nailed on.
It was taking ages to warm up and run right, then it would improve higher rev range but struggle on low revs or tick over, being an auto very concerning when one stalls on a junction or middle of a roundabout and a little dangerous. then we had backfiring all the way through the rev range and when warm,
I am so glad now it warms up in about 10 mins but runs better straight after starting, on start up it needs full choke for a brief moment (20 seconds) then 3rd choke for a good 5 them we can gently start knocking it fully off quite soon and she pulls all the way through the revs and gears, and it feels like all the horses have been encouraged to return the stable !! YEEE HAA!
