Rear Parcel Shelf

Postby Tr55vor » Mon Mar 08, 2021 5:25 pm

Hi
I’ve recently changed the headlining in my 1997 XK8 and the company that supplied the new headlining sent enough matching material to cover both the A pillars and the rear parcel shelf and I’d like to have a go at refurbishment of these. However, there were no instructions supplied and I can’t find any on youTube etc. Can anyone on here tell me how to remove the parcel shelf so that I can recover it properly. The A posts are quite easy to remove.
Cheers
Trevor

The shelf itself is held by only two screws in its leading edge. The trouble is you have to remove the seat squab and backrest to get access to them and then also remove the quarter trim panels on each side to allow the shelf to be withdrawn.
If you need chapter and verse on the panel removal procedure, pm me your email address and I'll forward you the workshop manual that you'll find useful for almost any work you want to undertake on your XK8.
