iPhone connectivity

Postby atticus » Thu Feb 11, 2021 3:23 pm

I have a new iPhone 12 with v14.4 of the operating system. I can pair it to my 2011 XJ without problem. I can make and receive 'phone calls through the Jaguar interface and I can use Siri, but none of the apps have audio. They seem to "think" they are connected to the car (when playing music, for example it shows the output as going to the "Jaguar XJ" and not the iPhone, but no sound unless I disconnect from the car's bluetooth then I get sound from the phone. Anyone know what the problem is?

I guess that from the deafening silence on this topic no one else has experience this problem, but just in case anyone has, I have stumbled across a workaround:

If you play music from the iPhone and select “My Music” on the car’s infotainment system the music plays through the car system and so do sounds from any other apps that are operating, muting the music. I do this when I want to use a phone based app, typically a satnav application such as Google Maps. (The traffic congestion mapping on the 2011 Jaguar satnav just doesn’t give the right information and is obsolete).

Hi atticus

Just wanted to say thanks for your post. It was dead handy! I’d just assumed that once the phone was paired up to the car it would play music too (how wrong!) Then I spotted your advice and I’d sorted it in seconds!

Cheers

Si
