Speedometer not working

Speedometer not working - 1996 XK8 Coupe - I think I read somewhere that the speedo is fed from the ABS speed signal from the front wheel - is that true?
My speedo has stopped working and I already have ABS and traction control warning lights - I'm about to check the ABS sensors but would this also affect the speedo?

Apart from feeding the ABS braking system, the wheel speed sensors are indeed also used to generate road speed signals for the instrument pack. Mike.

I'll be cleaning / replacing the sensors and hopefully that will sort the issue.
