I have a 3.4 Mk 2 1962 and I have a petrol leak coming from the top of the AED fuel well. Will adjusting the stop screw prevent this?
Re: Starting carb AED leaks
If fuel is coming out of the top of the AED then could be a couple of things. Firstly the temp sensor should shut the AED off when the car is up to temp and the hissing should stop. Secondly I believe that the fuel level is dependant on the fuel level in the fromt carb ( to which it is connected) so perhaps the inlet valve to that carb is stuck open and hence letting fuel through (identified by switching on the ignition, fuel pump runs but does not stop, don't start engine).
Should not do any carb adjustments to try and sort it and the AED needle just gives a richer or leaner mixture. The actual fuel/air that passes through it is controlled by the one way valve which is controlled by the solenoid operation.
Regards,

Re: Starting carb AED leaks
Hi PPV,
Thank you for replying. I will look at the front carb float setting and needle and go from there.
Thanks for your help I will let you know how I get on.
Chum Colin.

Re: Starting carb AED leaks
I have renewed the needle and seat to the front carb but the fault with the AED unit is still there.
I have obtained parts from Burlen to convert the carbs to manual choke and I will let you all know how I get on.
