I have recently had my XJ6 X350 converted to hand controls for disabled use. The main control is a lever pivoting in the steering column to operate the accelerator and brake pedals by a pair of rods. When braking the lever is pushed forwards and touches the key in the ignition. Is it possible to have a key cut that is just the metal bit without the fob with the switches? It would only be used to turn the ignition switch - I would keep another key with fob in the car.

If you had a 'full set' of keys when you acquired your car it should include the green "valet" key. This has no remote transmitter/button pack attached so should be just the solution that you are looking for. This has the Tibbe key pattern to suit the car door lock and a transponder chip in the head to start the engine; it does not unlock the boot. If you did not get the valet key with the car it may be possible to get one from a main dealer, or a new one cut from a basic Tibbe key blank. Either way it would need to be fitted with a transponder chip in the key head that is programmed to your car.
