Victory edition find. Need help

Postby Pip2099 » Sat Sep 14, 2019 10:08 pm

Good evening
hi everyone
After buying an xk8 in 2013 and not knowing very much about what I'd bought, fast forward to the present day and trying to carry out some research, with the help of my daughter, we have found some unusual features on the car that lead us to beleive that I have in my possesion a Victory Edition.
Is it possible that anyone could help with getting to the bottom of our search, please? Thankyou in advance
John & Alison

Hello jthompson and welcome,
Have found this on "Wiki"
Victory Edition
Introduced at the 2005 Los Angeles International Auto Show, the Victory Edition was offered in model year 2006, to "celebrate Jaguar's four championship wins in the North American Trans-Am road racing series and add to a successful lineage of special and limited edition XKs introduced since its launch," according to Jaguar's press statement. The statement went on to explain that "All four XK models – XK8 Coupe and Convertible and supercharged XKR Coupe and Convertible – will be offered as ‘Victory’ editions when the line-up goes on sale next summer. The new exterior styling changes introduced for the 2005 models continue to give the car a bolder, more aggressive and more muscular look." The Victory Edition was offered in all standard XK colours, plus four unique Victory Edition colours: Black Copper Metallic, Frost Blue Metallic, Bay Blue Metallic and Satin Silver Metallic. Victory Editions offered carbon fibre interior trim on XKR models, and a new Elm wood veneer on the XK8 models. Victory Editions also received special badging and accents. The "growler" badge on the hood (bonnet) had a unique checkered-flag background, and door sill plates featured checkered-flag emblems.Production of Victory Edition models was 1,050 cars.

Also some more information here:
https://www.supercars.net/blog/2005-jag ... y-edition/

I'm sure people with more knowledge on XK8's will have more info and will be post more.
Hope that helps a bit.
Enjoy your car anyway.

All that AJP says is correct, but note that the Victory Edition was only available in the USA! What you probably have is the UK edition that is the XK8 4.2S model, easily identified by the 4.2S badge on the back and the white growler badge on the bonnet plus many other distinguishing features/extras. A good description here

The original hardback brochure is a desirable publication for any S owner and often available on ebay such as here

Astromorg Thankyou for your input, that’s so interesting & you are right that’s the model Xk8 4.2S, Dad (John) was uncertain what the S meant but we’ve assumed it means sport.
We didn’t know that the Victory Edition originated in the USA.
It does have the growler badge and what seems to be a unique addition is the interior spec of very supple black leather with light stitching & also Piano black dash.
I think we are going to submit the chassis number to Jaguar & see if they can help further.
Thankyou again

Good Afternoon Everyone,
In reply to Mike Horlor, Astromorg & A.J.P

I want to take some time to thank you guys for the great help you have provided in directing us to lots of valuable information and link to better our research.

Here's what we found, that the car we have is in fact a Final edition 4.2 S XK8 X100 Yr 2006 Carbon Fiber dash.
I did mention that the car was being pampered back to excellent condition, she has been in the garage for a week or so with a fantastic fella over in Preston, Preston Jag Center, most accommodating & extremely knowledgeable, the owners name is Dave.
The work that has been completed is a panel of welding underneath the passenger seat, near side door latch, black waxed underneath, car is spotless underneath now.

I believe we now have a very sought after model in tip top condition.
I will continue to keep the car this way with no expense spared.
In addition to all this we have just applied for a Heritage Certificate which is on its way
Many many thanks from

John & Alison (company secretary  )
