Oil pressure instrument

Postby Henrymk2 » Thu Dec 13, 2018 3:56 pm

Hello,
I am driving a Jaguar 240 and my oil pressure gauge does not work.
First it showed 40 psi when the engine is running at 3000 rounds/min. When I put on the headlight, it went down to 30 psi.
Now it runs to the end over 60, when I turn on ignition, without engine runnig. It goes back when I turn off ignition. The oil pressure sensor is disconnected.
When I measure the electric, I find11,6 Volt on the point, wehre the cable of the sensor is fastened. On the other point, I find 12,0 Volt.
What can I do?
Regards, Henry from Cologne
Hope you understand my english.

Hello Henry,

it will not work unless the sensor is connected. That said they are known to be inaccurate at best. One option is to fit a mechanical pressure gauge however I doubt you will get one that matches the rest of the instruments?
