I noticed recently while cleaning the inside of the glove box that it warns me that I must replace the air bag module by 2008. The notice is on the edge of the lid. That may have seemed a long way away in 1993 when the car was built but it's only 4 months away now!
Has anyone had any experience of replacing one and possibly even more concerning, especially spare parts availability, are there any left?

We discussed this one a little while back (it's in the archive somewhere but difficult to find.)
I think that there aren't any new ones so any that are still listed will have been sitting on dealers' shelves for 15 years now and are therefore just as much in need of replacement as the ones in our cars.
I'd like to know how to remove the module altogether as the thought of having a fifteen year old firework go off by accident just inches from my face doesn't appeal greatly.

Al,
I thought that may be the case. I will give a call to my local dealer as he has helped me a lot in the past just to see if he cracks up laughing when I ask for one!
I assume it will need a specialist to remove it as they are like playing with fireworks.
