Water or Fuel pump belt Change

Postby robmitch » Tue Mar 07, 2017 5:56 pm

Hi Guys

Going to be taking advantage of Main Dealers Fixed price Cam Belt and Service charges. sure I read somewhere that I should have Water pump belt replace ? Jaguar told me "it dose not need to be changed", I explained it is 10 years old,,, No she said! But you need to change the fuel pump belt? @ £200..

Can someone please give me a clue to what I should get done on 2.7D Reg 2007 with 105000 miles on clock. cars booked in end of next week.
Just to confirm no major engine jobs have been done by last owner.

Rob

Your car is definitely due a belt change, Rob. Our Mr Marks told us at a Seminar that it is a nine hour job and he always does the idler pulleys at the same time. I`m surprised the Main Dealer told you what they did. Irresponsible in my opinion. I wonder if they would fit a new engine FOC if the cam belt snapped. I doubt it very much! I`d be asking the lady what her workshop experience was.....

You might find a local independent specialist more obliging and knowledgable. Probably cheaper and less obstructive as well.

We now know of one Main Dealer that is sending away the supercharged V8 models that need a vital pipe changing every 100k miles at the latest. Their tack on that occasion was to say the pipe didn`t exist. Several of us know the realities of the pipe. We all have changed them and found them defective. My faith in Main Dealers has plummeted further.
