Re: tire choices
The only cure for a heavy right foot is a wedge under the accelerator pedal! Your rear tyres will last longer after fitment.
None of the major branded tyres recommended for the XK range is sold as a particularly low wear option. They are all about grip. However, that is not a bad thing with a minimum of 300bhp to control. If you use the search facility you will see there have been a few previous conversations about members' views on tyre brands. Personally, I lean towards Dunlops largely because, in my experience, they appear to have slightly better traction than others, like Pirellis, when conditions are cool. However given similar prices, any tyre choice is only ever a compromise between noise, grip, handling and wear. No tyre is perfect. It's more a question of the order in which you choose to rank these qualities. Mike.

Another vote for Dunlops over Pirellis: quieter and less wear-prone.
I use(d) them on several of my XJs and they hold really well, and have lots of grip in the wet.
Depending on driving style you could also consider Michelin Pilot Sports: good rubber for the more spirited driver with excellent grip on wet roads. The latest generation - Pilot Sport 4 - has done great last summer, driving through the Alps in our (non-Jag) Roadster!

Re: tire choices
Dunlops have been my tyre of choice for a long time now. Much lower road noise, better grip and, for me anyway, decent all round wear.
If you are tempted by other non Jaguar specified brands it may be worth sounding out your insurer as to where you would stand if the worst should happen.
