Phoned Harwoods in Chichester to attempt to itemise part numbers for the mass of hoses and other gubbins buried under the supedupercharger. and below the throttle body. One drawing sent to me by mail which was rather lacking.

Wayne at XJK (Parts Dept) as always was as helpful as he could be from a distance. He mailed me three drawings but again I could not really itemize what is needed. I was particularly interested in the notorious valley pipe which can expand and explode just before the front of the engine. It can only be seen by removing the charger. I really would like the part number for that piece of hose.

The SNG and Manners sites where a disappointment seemingly only listing the more readily wanted parts such as brakes, thermostats and belts.

I took the throttle elbow to the Portsmouth Region meeting last night and showed the work done to clean it out. The more I looked at it again this morning, the more I realised it was far from complete as a finished job. So another four hours spent this morning smoothing out the ripples and bumps and repolishing. Lawson at Powerhouse told me there was more work involved porting the elbow than there is porting the charger. It is an awkward piece to machine internally with such limited access. As far as the charger body is concerned this is vastly more accessible with no deep front chamber to have to burrow into. The inlet port is on the rear of the case and will need port matching to the modified, lowered gasket and the reworked elbow. The pressure plate V can stand some basic opening out especially at the narrow end and the cow-horn lid and the charger case badly needs some port matching around the gasket. The black stain on the charger case edges in this shot clearly shows the mismatch between the gasket and the top of the charger case. That metal will be removed and the same on the cowhorn to match the two parts together and promote improved air flow.

There we go for today. after all this, I just have a slight concern that this elbow isn`t the same as the one on my car. Only removal of the upper plenum will reveal what is down there. I had it in mind that 4.2 XKR, XJR and XFR units were all the same. I hope I haven`t dropped a clanger!
