Engine Chugging after starting when cold

Postby ivorcharsley47 » Fri Dec 09, 2022 10:33 pm

2008 X Type with 2.2 litre Diesel. Car starts from cold with no problem but within seconds engine starts Chugging , engine note rising and falling.
Mild problem last winter but now has got worse and more violant. Eventually as gets warmer engine runs perfectly.
Car has been with Jaguar Dealer for two weeks as only time to check is as cold . So far no engine codes showing and no faults been found.
Has any one had similar experience or any idea what this is, as Jaguar at at a loss what to do next.

Hi,
It may be that the time has come to start a process of intrusive inspection / investigation using educated guesses. For this it would be best to use an independent Jaguar garage or trusted local one where they will have current hands on knowledge and the hourly rates much lower. Hopefully you will have a local specialist near you. Another option would be to contact your local area and see if they can recommend a knowledgeable garage. It could well be a fault that is not specific to Jag diesels.

Just to update, David Marks was asked and he suggested reprogramming the Injectors as if they were new injectors. this worked as the Main Dealer in Norwich hadn't solved it , but by programming as if they had fitted New Injectors it cleared the fault .
So Thank you David Marks
