Parking sensor module problem

Postby bobthomas911772 » Fri Jun 28, 2024 6:52 pm

Hello! I currently own a 2009 diesel estate but now I have been told by my mechanic there is a problem with the parking sensor module.
He has bought two from eBay but they are providing problems with fault codes it seems.
As I know virtually nothing about this kind of thing, can anybody point me in the correct direction so I can buy a new module? I don't really want to buy new as the cost is a little steep, but I will willingly take advise from fellow club members!!! Thank you!!

Is your mechanic sure it's the module and not just a sensor? To check yourself, engage reverse gear with your ignition on (engine off) and put your ear to each of your sensors - sensors which are working will make a faint, audible clicking sound. If none of the sensors are clicking then it is a very high probability that the module is at fault. If any of sensors are clicking then the module will be OK, you will only need to change the sensors that do not work.

To hear any clicking more clearly, put the tip of a screwdriver against the centre of each sensor and press the end of the handle to your ear.
Use a dependable source for used spares, such as AutoReserve and make sure the replacement module has a part number compatible with your original module.

Many thanks Astromorg,
Yes he is sure that it's the module, regrettably...
I will try AutoReserve!! Many thanks for the information!!
