Preventative maintenance

Went to Glasgow last Tuesday to visit Mackie Transmission specialists in Tollcross. Had a full gearbox service and oil change for the diff. ZF recommend this is done at 60k miles or 10years. Car only has 34k but is 15 years old. Peace of mind for a reasonable £512. Excellent company and very knowledgeable and thorough. Highly recommended if in their area. Gear changes continue to be silky smooth. Happy days.

Ian,

I definitely wouldn't leave it 60k before the next one. I did the gearbox oil on my x350 when I bought it and then every 20k after that. Oil is cheap, gearboxes are expensive!

Couldn’t agree more Paul. While I was waiting in Mackies, receptionist was on the phone quoting someone £3600 for a replacement new box! Regular servicing definitely the answer.
