Parking sensor

I have a problem when in drive the front sensors dont pick anything up,then when in reverse they all ping.Thanks Steve.2011XJ

Hi Steve, I am not 100% on the XJ, but I believe that is the operational mode for the front parking sensors on Jaguars (and other manufacturers cars) of that period, perhaps even later. The front sensors will not activate as you pull into the garage or parking space, unless you have previously selected reverse gear on the manoeuvre. It is not a fault, simply how they work.

Yes that’s true, the front parking sensors only activate after reverse has been selected, you can activate them manually via a button, on 2011 car I think it’s a button near interior light switches, but unsure, on later cars it’s via touchscreen, same as XF. Continuous beeping followed by nothing indicates a parking sensor fault.

Thanks Andy you were right switch next to the light switch,had the XJ for a year now and never noticed it.

Always good finding new things, my brother discovered his merc parks itself the other day, though when he tried to demonstrate it to me it parked half out the space
