Took my 2007 XK convertible out on Wednesday for a run around sixty miles, had the roof down as the temperture was around 31 degrees however after about 40 miles warning lights appear (engine over heating, yellow warning) slowed down after a little while red warning engine over heated. Having stopped and rested for 20 minutes, started car and continued for 10 miles without a problem, later that day drove sixty miles homes without a problem but with the heater full on, i believe the problem may have been because i had the air con running on cold all the way. Which now seem a daft idea considering i had the roof down, any ideas would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: Over heating
This sounds like a similar problem I had on my X-type. Turned out to be a faulty sensor on the cooling fans and wasn't turning them on every time.
Might be worth checking.

If you look here on the Forum; viewforum.php?f=71 you'll find a lot of info that will guide you. Just be careful that you distinguish between the X150 advice and the X100 stuff

Re: Over heating
Took it into Jaguar main dealer last week, repair cost £640 for thermostat and housing. However Jaguar can't suuply the part as on back order, so car now sits in workshop and dealer has no idea when parts will be available.
What a great reason to buy Jaguar, totally a crap service

Re: Over heating
latest news, now told Jagaur don't have the part available (AJ811793) three months before it arrives. Should have gone to a back street garage and had an aftermarket part fitted, now the whole summer is wasted if we get any that is.
Re: Over heating
Hi there, the fact that the main dealer is at a loss over parts availability doesn't mean that you have to be. Have the dealership tell you exactly what parts are needed - part numbers, etc. and source the appropriate second-hand bits from one of the Jaguar Breakers who advertise in the JE magazine. Ask the dealership to install the used parts temporarily, whilst they wait on the OEM parts from Jaguar - you may have to sign a suitable disclaimer, but that should be no big issue. A better option than sitting on your hands and losing the summer motoring.
